So to begin my personal journey to health and wellness in my first trimester of pregnancy, I am actually starting with a bit of personal development, cleaning up my eating habits, walking, and swimming.
Personal Development
I am a personal development junkie - meaning that without it, I don't get through the week! Right now, I am reading A Return to Love by the beautiful Marianne Williamson. In my reading, I am learning to change my perspective on life and creating a life by design not centered on money or things but digging deep to find out what makes me happy, excited, and invigorated.
This book is also helping me connect with my faith in God and get my act together.
I believe that my daily commitment to reading and investing in my spiritual renewal with prevent me from undergoing the effects that postpartum depression could cause if I decided to just go through the motions of this pregnancy.
I guess we'll see!
Cleaning Up My Eating Habits
In all honesty, my eating habits are not terrible. However, they are starting to prove to be rather inconsistent. Some days I eat great and other days, well I may not eat at all.And telling you that is NOT that easy. But change only comes when we make small decisions to do something different everyday.
So for the rest of my pregnancy, I am committing to cleaning up my eating habits through understanding what my baby and I need during this time especially in the beginning phases of my pregnancy as well as what we will need when my bundle of joy makes his or her entrance into the world.
Walking
For the last three months, I have not been outside much. Partly because its Winter and I don't see there being much to do right now other than watch movies and be boring. At least I didn't at first.
But now I have decided to go out and enjoy the presence of others through fellowship, giving my time and energy to the causes that mean the world to me, and meeting new friends.
And the first step for me will be getting up before work and walking each morning at my local gym.
Swimming
Going swimming is probably one of the most beneficial activities that I can do at this time. I have always wanted to learn how to swim independently. In the past with near death water experiences, I have been apprehensive to get into water by myself. But I am staring fear in the face and choosing to do it anyway. Baby belly and all!
Swimming even three months down the line will become therapeutic for me. I will learn how to swim. I will be healthier and more energetic. I will meet lots of amazing women who would love to start living their best lives and doing what they love.
